Getting started
How does a company step challenge work?
You choose the dates, the groups and a goal. Employees join the app and their steps sync from a wearable or straight from the phone. Everyone sees their personal rank and daily goal, and groups compete on average steps.
How long should a step challenge last?
Four weeks is a common choice: long enough to build a habit, short enough to keep the energy up. You can set any length that fits your calendar.
What step goal should we set?
Pick a goal a typical participant can reach with steady effort. The average YuMuuv participant takes 8,448 steps a day, so a daily goal of around 8,000 steps suits most groups.
How much work is it for HR?
You set up the challenge in the admin dashboard and invite people. A success manager helps you plan the first one, and communication templates help you announce it. On G2, customers report going live in under a month on average.
Joining in
Can people without a wearable join?
Yes. The YuMuuv app can count steps on the phone, so no wearable is needed.
Which devices and apps work with YuMuuv?
Apple Watch, Garmin, Fitbit, Polar, Suunto, Apple Health, Google Fit, Health Connect and Google Health, plus iPhone and Android phones. People connect once and steps sync automatically.
What about people who cycle, swim or use a wheelchair?
Other activities convert to steps, so cyclists, swimmers and wheelchair users contribute to their team like everyone else.
Which languages is the app available in?
47 languages, on the web, iOS and Android. Each person can use the app in their own language.
During the challenge
How are groups ranked fairly?
On average steps per person, not total steps. A department of 8 can beat a department of 80.
Can people compete as individuals as well as in groups?
Yes. Every participant has an individual rank and a personal daily goal alongside the group leaderboards. You can also run a challenge with individual rankings only.
Does it work for remote and international teams?
Yes. Steps count in each person’s own time zone, and you can split teams by office, department or country.
Can colleagues talk to each other in the app?
Yes. Each challenge has a chat where people can post messages and share photos.
Security and cost
Is YuMuuv secure and accessible?
Yes. YuMuuv is SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant, and the app meets WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards. Security documentation is available for your IT team.
What can employees and HR see?
Colleagues see the leaderboards and the challenge chat. HR sees participation and challenge results in the admin dashboard.
Can we run other challenges afterwards?
Yes. Walking, running, cycling, sleep, plank, yoga, mindfulness, water drinking and custom challenges are all included, and you can run as many as you like during your period.
What does it cost?
You pay only for employees who take part, with unlimited challenges during your period. See pricing or ask for a quote on the demo.
How far could your company walk together?
Move the sliders to see how far your people could walk together. Sign-ups use YuMuuv’s 53% average adoption on G2. Distance uses 8,448 steps a day, the average for a YuMuuv participant.
