YuMuuv Team Annual Wellness Plan 2023

Hey, good YuMuuv friend!

My name is Keitlin, and I am one of the YuMuuv team members. Do you want to guide your employees to an active lifestyle in the new year, or your employees are already active and big fans of YuMuuv challenges and you just need a new and exciting plan for the new year for your employees to be even more active and healthy, but you don't have a good idea and would like to see for inspiration what others do? Don’t worry, we got you! I will introduce you to how our YuMuuv team does it and what a nice and active year we have planned for ourselves. 

The main keyword for developing an active lifestyle is consistency. If you want to improve the health and well-being of your employees, a short-term intervention is not enough, you have to be consistent and involve your employees throughout the year. We have prepared our plan for the whole year so that we can form more good and health-supporting habits.

1. January 2023: New Year, New Me

Activity: Intensive Minutes

Type: Consistency 

Target: 10 minutes a day x 21 days out of 31

This is a sentence that each of us has probably heard at least once in our life. The year begins, people are very motivated and ready to give their best, and so are we. As we mentioned before, it doesn't matter how much you can train in one day, because the best result comes if you are consistent. The consistency challenge is designed to get the user into the habit. That's why we start with this challenge to get into a nice rhythm and face the year briskly. Our goal is to do 10 intensive minutes 21 days out of 31 and reward consistency.

2. February 2023: Let’s burn buns!

Activity: Calories

Type: Collective

Target: X calories per month (2000kcal per person) 

Now we already have people with great rhythm and excitement. Perfect time to do a collective challenge with the team. Calories are a good metric to predict an outcome and you can set as unique goals as you want. In Estonia, we have Shrove Tuesday in February. That means eating lots of whipped cream buns. One bun contains about 280 calories. We want to burn together 500,000 calories, which is worth about 1785 buns.

3. March 2023: March Madness

Activity: Steps

Type: Total Amount Target

Target: 10,000 steps every day

The step challenge is probably one of the easiest. Just go for a walk, collect the steps and your body will thank you. Since spring is slowly sneaking up on, it is the perfect opportunity to do a nice step challenge and get the team to move at least 10,000 steps daily. We like to organize daily walking meetings, get some fresh air during lunch break, and use the stairs instead of the elevator, and the steps will come imperceptibly. 

4. April 2023: Ultra Challenge: Not So Funny April

Activity: Activity Index

Type: Total Amount Target

Target: 80% of the activity

In April we decided to add a little twist to the challenges and make the first ultra challenge of the year. We like to challenge ourselves, so this month is a good opportunity to do so. By the end of the month, we hope to collect 80% of the activity. In the Activity Index Challenge, the user must meet a fixed average daily steps target, burn their calories (a personal target for each user according to their gender, age, height, and weight), and meet the intensity minutes target. If some of us do not meet the goal or the challenge seems too difficult, we also add a manual entry challenge to this month. For example, in the form of doing abs. That way, everyone can be involved and make an effort.

5. May 2023: May-rathon

Activity: Distance

Type: Consistency

Target: 8km a day x 21 days out of 31

Summer is approaching and we all want to get into beautiful beach shape. Accumulating kilometers is a good way to take care of our physical body. This time the consistency challenge is to walk 8 kilometers at least 21 days a month.

6. June 2023: Push Through The Summer

Activity: Push-ups

Type: Consistency 

Target: 50 push-ups a day x 26 days out of 30

Summer is the time of vacations, when many people travel around, discover new places, and are constantly on the move. This month, we aim to strengthen the body instead. Push-ups are a good way to do this because doing them works several muscles and a beautiful and fit body is guaranteed. The monthly goal is to do at least 50 push-ups at least 26 days a month. We can do them anywhere, even on the beach, at some interesting sights, or in nature. It's cool to also share pictures of interesting places where we did push-ups during this month, which can be shared with the team in the YuMuuv chat.

7. July 2023: Water Changes Everything!

Activity: Water Drinking 

Type: Consistency 

Target: 2 liters a day x 25 days out of 31

Water is the main component of the human body and is very important for the whole organism. Many people consume too little water, leading to many health problems. We want to focus on water drinking this month and try to create good habits for our YuMuuv team members. The challenge is simple. Consume at least 2 liters of water at least 25 days a month. It is a consistency challenge, so it should get us into the habit of regularly drinking water. The result of this challenge is more energy and better health. 

8. August 2023: Ultra Challenge: Athletic August

Activity: Activity Index

Type: Total Amount Target

Target: 90% of the activity

The second ultra challenge of the year. The activity index goal has increased by 10% compared to April, but our team has been more and more active and taken care of their health, so we will do well with it, and by the end of the month, everyone will collect a strong 90% activity. Just as in April, this month too, we add a manual entry challenge to those employees whose goal remains unfulfilled or the challenge seems too difficult. This time, the goal can be to do at least 50 squats in two weeks. 

9. September 2023: Let’s walk around Estonia!

Activity: Distance

Type: Collective

Target: X kilometers per month (8km per person)

Another nice collective challenge. This time the focus is on kilometers. When setting a goal, we wanted to tie it to some interesting facts. We want to collect 1900 kilometers with the team by the end of the month, which is about the length of the coastline of our Estonian mainland.

10. October 2023: Mindful Month

Activity: Mindfulness

Type: Consistency 

Target: 20 minutes for yourself every day

October is mental health awareness month. This month, attention could be paid to the mental health of employees. We try to find at least 20 minutes each day to take time for ourselves and engage in some favorite activity. Be it reading a book, meditating, walking in the fresh air, etc. It is essential to find time for yourself and take care of your mental side. 

11. November 2023: MOVEvember

Activity: Steps

Type: Consistency

Target: 10,000 steps a day x 25 days out of 30

The end of the year is already in sight and the last chance to develop healthy habits for the new year. A great way to do the “old and known” step challenge but with the goal of consistency. We walk 10,000 steps at least 25 days a month.

12. December 2023: Ultra Challenge: A December to Remember

Activity: Activity Index

Type: Total Amount Target

Target: 100% of the activity

Last ultra challenge of the year. The last efforts before the year can be considered completed and a summary of the year can be made. Each time the percentage of the activity index has increased by 10%, so in December the goal is to achieve 100% activity by the end of the month. It may seem difficult, but we have been so good and active throughout the year, so one last effort before everyone can crown themselves champions. For the months of the ultra challenge, we add a manual entry challenge for two weeks, so that even those whose goal remains unfulfilled or the challenge seems difficult can be involved and take part. We add some strength training challenges and do for example planking for 5 minutes every day for two weeks.

13. Conclusion

This is just one example of what a year with YuMuuv can look like. Active, and challenging enough, but also a cool and nice way to take care of your health. Every company can create a unique plan that meets its wishes and needs.
