Forward Platform Energized a Remote Team with YuMuuv
Company: Forward Platform
Industry: GovTech / Case Management Software
Team Size: ~50 employees across ~10 U.S. states (fully remote)
Interviewee: Daijah Cook, HR Manager
Challenge Types: Steps + High‑Effort Activity (two parallel challenges)
Primary Goal: Company‑wide wellness & cross‑team connection
Why They Needed a Change
Forward Platform builds and adapts a case-management solution used by government agencies, nonprofits, and foundations to disburse relief funding where it’s needed most. It’s a secure, fully integrated platform that brings all of your programs, tools, and data into one place—so you can launch initiatives in weeks, deliver services equitably, and prove impact with confidence. With a fully distributed team (East Coast to West Coast), HR Manager Daijah Cook wanted a wellness program that would unite people beyond Zoom—without creating admin headaches.
The company had run annual wellness challenges using another vendor, but admin tasks were clunky and late joiners were hard to accommodate. Daijah went looking for something smoother—and landed on YuMuuv.
“As an admin, YuMuuv was much more user‑friendly. Adding people, moving teams, handling late joiners—it was all easy.” — Daijah Cook
Launching the Program
Forward Platform ran two challenges in parallel:
- Steps (the universal on‑ramp)
- High‑Effort Activity (for more intense workouts)
Integrations were seamless across Apple and Android, with minimal manual entry needed.
“I didn’t reach out to support once—the entire month. Integrations were smooth, and people didn’t struggle.”
What Employees Loved
- Clarity & ease: Non‑tech power users could log activity quickly (even manually when needed).
- Individual + team visibility: Admins could spotlight top individuals while tracking team progress—fueling friendly competition.
- Cross‑team bonding: Daijah intentionally mixed teams so coworkers met people outside their usual circles.
“It was refreshing to use new tech that didn’t feel clunky. People jumped in and knew exactly what to do.”
Engagement & Culture Wins
- Company‑wide participation across time zones
- Real‑time shout‑outs kept momentum high
- Remote workers reported feeling more connected and seen
“This kind of program makes a remote company feel like a team, not just individuals working alone.”
Rewards that Fit Everyone
The program was co‑funded via the company’s health benefits partner (Sigma), allowing Daijah to personalize rewards:
- Weekly Goodie rewards: Winners chose a $50 item from Goodie’s catalog.
- Finale snack boxes: Each participant selected seven healthy snacks, with a custom note—“You did it. Everyone’s a winner.”
Lessons Learned
- Keep the Steps challenge as the inclusive core.
- Consider retiring the high‑effort track (lower participation).
- Use YuMuuv’s templates and reporting to spotlight individuals during team competitions.
What’s Next
For winter, Daijah plans a well‑being challenge (hydration, journaling, weekly prompts)—leaning into mental health habits employees can do anywhere. Timing it for January avoids holiday conflicts and meets people where they are.
