The short answer

Both run step and habit challenges with teams and chat for companies. Personify Health, formerly Virgin Pulse, is a large health and benefits platform with minimums of 190 people for a challenge and 1,000 for a year; YuMuuv is a challenge app from $600 that most companies launch within two weeks, in 50 languages.

Choose YuMuuv if you…

  • have fewer than 190 people, or want to start with one challenge from $600
  • want to launch within two weeks of signing
  • have people in many countries: the app runs in 50 languages
  • want data kept in the EU by default and a SOC 2 Type II report

Personify Health may suit you better if you…

  • want wellbeing, health plan administration and care navigation from one company
  • want points and Rewards Cash that people spend on gift cards, devices or charity
  • have 1,000 or more employees and want health coaching and condition management programmes alongside challenges

Four differences that matter

  • Start small from $600

YuMuuv starts at $600 for a two-week challenge for up to 25 people. Personify publishes prices only on its international site, from €12,920 (about US$14,500) for a four-week challenge with at least 190 people.

  • Live within two weeks

YuMuuv is technically ready within a day, and most companies launch one to two weeks after signing. Personify lists six weeks to implement Essential Wellbeing and 120 days for Complete; its GO Challenge needs registration 60 days ahead.

  • 50 languages vs 20+

YuMuuv runs in 50 languages, so global teams can join in their own language. Personify's website says 20+ languages, and its App Store listing shows 21.

  • EU data by default

YuMuuv keeps data in the EU (AWS Frankfurt) and holds a SOC 2 Type II report. Personify stores data in US data centres by default and can keep some data in the EU if the employer chooses.
