Although, companies have been using the YuMuuv platform for charity challenges for many months, the challenge "Step your way to Christmas" (from 15th November until 5th December) was the first of its kind to bring several companies together under a common goal.

The charity challenge — company converts collective steps into a charitable donation at a pre-announced rate — is the format that reliably recruits the 70 percent who never join competitive challenges, because it swaps "can I win?" for "does my contribution matter?", removes leaderboard embarrassment (the score is shared, and rankings can be hidden entirely), and gives even modest efforts a literal cash value.
