YuMuuv vs Big Team Challenge

An honest side-by-side for HR and wellbeing teams choosing a step challenge app: prices, ratings, languages, activities and support.

Facts checked 23 October 2026 · see sources

YuMuuv is used by 1,300+ companies in 100+ countries, including
  • Carlsberg
  • Microsoft
  • DHL
  • AWS
  • McKinsey & Company
  • PayPal
  • Bolt
  • ABB

The short answer

Both run team step challenges for companies. Big Team Challenge sells low-cost single challenges along 300+ virtual routes; YuMuuv adds synced sports and habit challenges, 50 languages and single sign-on, with unlimited challenges in each plan.

Choose YuMuuv if you…

  • have people in many countries: the app runs in 50 languages
  • need single sign-on and a SOC 2 Type II report for IT and security approval
  • want cycling, swimming, yoga and habits such as sleep or water to count, not only steps
  • want to run several challenges a year with daily targets, all in one plan

Big Team Challenge may suit you better if you…

  • want the lowest price for one challenge: up to six weeks for 100 people costs $780
  • want 300+ virtual walking routes with milestones and a team-by-team or shared map
  • run a charity challenge and want JustGiving totals shown in the app

Four differences that matter

  • 50 languages vs English only

YuMuuv runs in 50 languages, so global teams can join in their own language. Big Team Challenge says its app, help articles and support chat are available only in English.

  • Ready for IT review

YuMuuv includes single sign-on (SAML, OIDC), holds a SOC 2 Type II report and keeps data in the EU. We found no single sign-on or security certification for Big Team Challenge, which says it cannot complete detailed security questionnaires.

  • More than steps

YuMuuv syncs 14 activities, such as cycling, swimming and yoga, and runs habit challenges for sleep, water or mindfulness. Big Team Challenge syncs steps only; other activities are entered by hand as minutes or distance.

  • Unlimited challenges per plan

A YuMuuv plan includes unlimited challenges for its whole period, up to a full year, with daily targets or totals. Big Team Challenge sells each challenge separately, for up to 6 or 12 weeks, and we found no daily targets.
